Our commitment

The Joshua Academy Charity Inc is building for young people the world has too often overlooked. A website that some people cannot use would contradict that. We are committed to making this site usable by as many people as possible, including those who browse with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, captions, or reduced motion.

The standard we are working toward

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

We want to be straightforward about where we are: this site has not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit, so we do not claim full conformance today. We treat WCAG 2.2 AA as the target we build and review against, and we are working through it as the site grows.

What we do as we build

We aim to use meaningful headings and page structure, descriptive text alternatives for images, visible keyboard focus, color combinations that meet contrast requirements, and layouts that reflow on small screens and at high zoom without loss of content.

Known limitations

Our donation form is provided by Givebutter, a third-party service. We do not control its code, and we cannot guarantee its accessibility. If you encounter a barrier while giving, contact us using the details below and we will take your gift another way — by check, by wire, or over the phone. No one should be unable to give because of a barrier on this site.

Some photographs on this site are illustrative rather than documentary, as Joshua Academy has not yet opened. We are working to make sure text alternatives describe them accurately.

Some areas of the site use motion as content scrolls into view. We are working toward fully honoring the reduced-motion preference set in your operating system or browser.

If any part of this site prevents you from finding information, giving, or getting in touch, we want to hear about it — and we will treat it as a defect, not a suggestion.

Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, if you know it. We aim to acknowledge reports within five business days and will tell you what we intend to do and when.
